Back from Hessisch

WOW! Hard to describe this meeting in words... The nerves driving the old cars down to Germany, the incredible amount of vintage and special cars, the fantastic people, the atmosphere. We were part of a Norwegian delegation of 9 cars. We had a blast driving there and met a lot of old and new friends.
Congratulations to Splitman and crew for their amazing "Der Wiger Coupe". We had it in front of us or in the mirror the whole trip... What a car!! Thank you to all our travelling friends!
This will go down as a milestone in vintage VW history....
(And to you who got a Sechs Volt cup, we hope you use it in your garage...)

Still dreaming about Express

After eight years of collecting, restoring and welding parts i yesterday finally had the opportunity to hear what this "#¤% thing sounded like. I can tell you it was a great experience! BUT the clutch don't work so now the whole thing has to get out of the car one more time. And btw, this is happening two weeks before we're hedding for Hessisch.... Wish me luck.

Flåklypa Grand Prix 2009

This weekend, the annual "Flåklypa Grand Prix" vintage rally was held in Lom and Skjåk (Mid-Norway, mountains all around). Splitboys parents took their -63 cab to the rally, an 840 km tour-detour trip. The weather was stunning, and quite a few nice rides to spot as well. The Ghia pictured was on its first race, after being restored and then stored in a barn for nearly 25 years..

This weekend, Skjåk was also the host of a hot rod-meeting, would have loved to show you some rod rides as well....... =)

VWedding in Bergen

Splitboy's brother got married this weekend, and as his lovely bride hails from Bergen, the wedding took place there. The drive from church for the newlyweds was of course done in style, in the junglegreen '56 looker. We had a great party, and quite a trip over there as well. Tour-detour we covered 1100 km in the '56 during the weekend(!) The car was filled up with luggage, tools (that were never needed!!), pregnant girlfriend and a ten-year-old in the backseat. The trip was great, but note to self; next time, bring earplugs- especially in the tunnels.... ;-)

Out of order

Splitboys Ghia spotted in the barn this weekend. The text says that it is out of order. Strange? We wish Splitboy the very best for this car as well.

Don`t lower your standards

These days the Sechs volt members are handing out flyers to promote the SCC.
You really need to be at Gardermoen raceway 14th. - 16th. august to see for yourself. Sechs volt is of course involved in the organizing prosess. We're sending special invitations to cars older than 1958. Check your mailbox often (snailmail), maybe you've got one allready!
And of course - your car has to be original:-)

Inspiration in Amsterdam

Oval57 went to Amsterdam in easter. Amsterdam is not at all full of old aircooled VW but I did saw some Gihas, and late bugs.
In the shops it was a lot of VW-stuff and racing. I am sorry for the poor mobilephonepics.

Oil cooler

I've allways loved working with copper lines. After finishing the the Express fuel lines, there was still some copper left. Why not make some fun out of it? Different coolers was availiable in the fifthies. TDE and Oettinger both made their type. This is designed and made by Sechs volt :-)

Wallpaper SCC 2009

You can save this nice wallpaper on your computer. Øyvind Berger in SCC has created this one.

Hessich countdown!

Wednesday was the time for a 6V gathering. The entire 6V crew finally found time to meet!
Knechten, finally done building house for his family, showed everybody that he hasn't forgot how to take it in, and how to take it out.....dismantling a '57 firepump, removing the 1750 cc "Kvikk service" engine from the switter, in with the '57 engine - and finally - a quick start...all in one evening!
And for Oval57s split, things are starting to get somewhere....the captain will soon start to march once again =)

36hp engine for the express kit - Hessich HERE WE COME!

This bolt-on tuned 36hp engine arrived yesterday. Its an industrial engine only used ten hours since 1958. A very skilled motorguy here in Norway just did a valve- and fly cut job on it. He also shortened the pushrods, milled the combustion chambers and out-/innlets. I will be using this engine with dual carburetors (Express).

Most important first aid kit for your car...?

When searching through the boxes of parts for the Ghia, this little thing came up. It is a "nød-frontrute" -emergency windshield, made in Trondheim. The text reads: "If You have Your windshield shattered, the emergency windshield can save You from a lot of trouble. Always keep this box in Your car"
Turns out, it is just a piece of transparent plastic and some tape......!
But who knows, maybe it saved somebody's day, shattering the windshield after racing down some dusty contry roads.....

NOS 6 Volt bluecoil

Oval57 swapped some parts last night. What about NOS 6 Volt bulbs, bluecoil and a great temp gauge? He also got some NOS "wrong volt" parts with extremely danger, called 12 Volt. You can see some of it on the picture.

Automessen 2009

Oval57 went for the Automesse 2009 at the norwegian trade fairs. I think it was quite good for me. I got information about wich bolt I must use for my spacers, I got tips and tricks for rubbing up my split and more. "Every" firm dealing with parts and so on was present at the trade fair. I had a really good time. I also got some pictures for you guys.

When will Knechten be back in the garage?

Knechten left the Sechs volt garage before the summer and we have not seen much of him since then. The reason is that he is making a new home for his family. I found this box with Norwegian "lapskaus" that is still edible - waiting for him when he returns to the garage. Knechten come home!
