It is still winter, but the sun are melting the white stuff again. The sun runs on 6 volt these days...

Hessich countdown!

Wednesday was the time for a 6V gathering. The entire 6V crew finally found time to meet!
Knechten, finally done building house for his family, showed everybody that he hasn't forgot how to take it in, and how to take it out.....dismantling a '57 firepump, removing the 1750 cc "Kvikk service" engine from the switter, in with the '57 engine - and finally - a quick start...all in one evening!

And for Oval57s split, things are starting to get somewhere....the captain will soon start to march once again =)

36hp engine for the express kit - Hessich HERE WE COME!

This bolt-on tuned 36hp engine arrived yesterday. Its an industrial engine only used ten hours since 1958. A very skilled motorguy here in Norway just did a valve- and fly cut job on it. He also shortened the pushrods, milled the combustion chambers and out-/innlets. I will be using this engine with dual carburetors (Express).

Most important first aid kit for your car...?

When searching through the boxes of parts for the Ghia, this little thing came up. It is a "nød-frontrute" -emergency windshield, made in Trondheim. The text reads: "If You have Your windshield shattered, the emergency windshield can save You from a lot of trouble. Always keep this box in Your car"

Turns out, it is just a piece of transparent plastic and some tape......!

But who knows, maybe it saved somebody's day, shattering the windshield after racing down some dusty contry roads.....

NOS 6 Volt bluecoil

Oval57 swapped some parts last night. What about NOS 6 Volt bulbs, bluecoil and a great temp gauge? He also got some NOS "wrong volt" parts with extremely danger, called 12 Volt. You can see some of it on the picture.

Automessen 2009

Oval57 went for the Automesse 2009 at the norwegian trade fairs. I think it was quite good for me. I got information about wich bolt I must use for my spacers, I got tips and tricks for rubbing up my split and more. "Every" firm dealing with parts and so on was present at the trade fair. I had a really good time. I also got some pictures for you guys.

When will Knechten be back in the garage?

Knechten left the Sechs volt garage before the summer and we have not seen much of him since then. The reason is that he is making a new home for his family. I found this box with Norwegian "lapskaus" that is still edible - waiting for him when he returns to the garage. Knechten come home!

Box of splitparts?

The barn seems to be to smaal for us 4. No one is selling, only collecting more and more. To make a little bit of system we did make 4 boxes for storing parts. But hey; look at Mr. Knechtens box! Whats happening? NO VW-stuff?

Osnabrück iron in the 6V garage

Recently, Splitboy purchased a '65 Karmann Ghia project, and last night was scheduled for pickup of the car.

The pickup of a non-rolling car in mid-February is no easy task...slippery roads and lots of snow made this journey a challenging one. Great thanks to Splitboys old man for taking the journey and driving the trailer, and to Sr. Solberg for helping out with the tractor when roads and hillsides got slippery...!!

The car will rest in the 6V barn until the '50 is finished. Then it will make a nice summer ride for Splitboys better half =)

Our 12 Volt-friend Boblehue (Bubbelhead) and Oval57 have created two dogs from VW-parts that are leftovers from some restaurations. The idea are stolen from some place in cyberspace. After collecting parts, welding them toghether we could finally give our girls this dog. Both dogs have a sign with the dogs name, and the name and phonenumber to the owner. This dogs are crazy about the norwegian dealer Harald A. Møller`s "flushfluid" in original bottles. The new owners seems to be happy:)

Waiting for Hessich - remembering 2005

Two of the members of Sechs volt drove in a real car of course. Splitboy and Oval57 in Splitboys 56 oval. At that time we were named "MysenMafiaen". The 56 cab belongs to Oildropman; mr. Nesmoen. His assistantmecanic Tuverud is the man in the picture. This summer all four members of Sechs volt are going down to H-O with Veedubs. PS. It looks like Splitboy did WASH his car before the trip:)

I simply can't bellieve its been four years since we attended Hessich. It feels like yesterday.
We will for sure be there this year as well. This time we will also take some of our cars with us.
If you haven't been to Hessich Oldendorf, you for sure missed something. Its truely amazing!

The sechs volt cup - this time from the garage of our friend T2-man. The front seat of his cool dove blue barndoor panel is given the makeover this winter. Making the 2mm piano wires the shape desired, can be a daunting task - good thing he has a good cup of 6V coffee to keep spirits high =)

These days he is busy working on the powerplant for his pre-Ancient classic, making it ready to fly low on the autobahn next summer.

It seems like where VW-guys prefer coffee, Porsche-engines demand stronger stuff.... =)

Kurt Källström and Rivstart Productions have made their best release yet with the 2-disc edition of Scandinavia´s coolest aircooled event! Everything´s there, the outstanding race action, the BBQ party, the vintage lounge, the show & shine, not to mention interviews with people from all over Europe capturing that very special SCC spirit!!!
The first disc follows the SCC from the setup on friday morning with showcars, Kübelwagens and racers pouring though the gates and the Friday Night Screwdrivers T-BBQ in the evening, the racing action starting saturday morning lasting all day long until there´s time for... another party of course!!! The Bonus Disc contains a 30 minute "Vintage Special" with interviews with the owner and drivers of some of the rarest VW´s you will ever find in Europe! We´re talking Schwimmwagens, Barndoor buses, Hebmüllers and more!

Last night, Oval57 put the (chassis)rubber on, and let the body and undercarriage melt together again for the first time in a long, long time...on the '52 captain that is. =)

Looking like a car again, now things are really starting to come together!

Later in the evening, a dismantled friend showed up once again - the "6V inn" is now fully booked for the winter =)

Sechs Volt Mug part III

This is Knechtens mug. Sad to say this mug has been in Knechtens hands for half a year, but has not seen the inside of a garage yet. Knechten is building himself and the family a new house this winter. The garage and his zwitter get no visits at all for several months... To keep control of the abstinence, Knechten keep the Sechs Volt mug by his side through the rough days as a handyman. But the coffe doesen't taste half as good without the grinder dust in it?

Chassis rails just arrived

A gigantic package was delivered on my doorstep today. This metal is going to help three and a half Norwegian vert owners getting their cars back on the road... I spent alot of time searching the web for the best vert rails around. Finally I found this site - www.thevolksmeister.com. The quality is by far the best I've seen. Thanks Robert! 

The sechs volt mug II

Fellow 6V-buff and original-polizei supporter Erik N. has also received an 6V mug. He reports that he (as usually) has added some period accessories to his mug, in order to keep the coffee warm...!

A new problem has arised - it is no longer possible to measure the level of coffee in the mug. Despair not, future plans involve addition of a NOS fuel gauge he has lying on the shelves.... =)

Tonight, the temperature outside the 6V barn was a freezing -12 degrees C (!). Luckily for us, the inside is quite a bit warmer. To keep the spirits high as well, Splitboy did some metalwork on the '50, with good help and assistance from Fürsten aka Coyd Boddington =)

The Sechs volt mug

We have given away some Sechs volt-mugs during the last year, and we sometime ask for a picture related to what the club is all about. This time we have got a picture from our good friend Morten Lund. The picture shows an old transmission for overhaulin'? He is a true believer in old rusted steel. Morten have no idea about what happend in Wolfsburg after 1958! In his world it`s only kubels, schwimms, splits and barndoors. Standard oval is also ok. Morten has a huge collection of cars, parts, options and litterature. Every visit in Mortens barn is breathtaking.
